Charles Smith Wines Tasting Room

Restaurants and Retail

Chihuly Garden & Glass Museum Events Room Interior
ARCHITECT: Olson Kundig Architects

LOCATION: Walla Walla, WA

CLIENT: Charles Smith Wines

SCHEDULE: 6 months

SIZE: 4,500 sf

The new 4,500 sf tasting room blends the sophistication of the Walla Walla winery with the pioneering and industrious spirit of the Northwest. This project occupies the former Johnson Auto Electric building, built in 1917. The scope include demolition, masonry repair, sandblasting, casework, as well as modern updates to electrical systems, sprinklers, HVAC and fire monitors. Unique to the space is the “armadillo,” timber-framed offices with movable steel paneled walls and two custom steel and glass overhead doors, allowing the space to convert easily from an office, tasting room and retail store into a dining and entertainment venue.
